Wooden flooring
There are several woods that can be used as flooring material. The demand for wooden floors is being increased day by day. There are several types of woods that can be used as wooden flooring. These include the following:
- Bamboo flooring
- Flooring made from timber of hardwoods.
- Spruce.
- Flooring made of hard pine.
The flooring can be installed in your house in two different ways. First one is called installation on site. In this method, the wood is installed directly on the site and you can guide the installers about specific location and design of the installation process.
Other method is called pre finished. In this process, the floor is finished and the sheets of flooring are made in the factory. After that, they are installed in your house after getting sliced and several cuts.
The most common method that is used and preferred is pre finished. This is due to the reason that the chemicals and the reactions on the floor that has to be applied is done in the factory, and you do not have to worry about different disease and side effects of the chemicals that has to be applied on the floor.
The thickness of the flooring is usually four or five inches. They are also 19 mm thick sometimes. Some of them are also 10mm and 8mm. On the sub floors, these flooring can be installed by nailing method. The wood is spread over the sub floor and then nails are applied on the floor to get is fixed in the place. As a matter of fact, the wood that is installed as floor, expands or contracts in the seasons, and if you do not install it over a concentrate slab, then this can be spoiled after change of seasons.
The other method that is used for wooden floors is called engineered floors. Rather having a piece of hard wood in a large quantity, you can fit some small pieces of different sizes according to the area and the size of installation site. In this way, this method is regarded as the most stable and the most durable form of wooden floors.
The manufacturing of engineered wooden floors can be classified as followings:
- Rotary-peel:
This is done by boiling the log of wood in a large container and then slicing the wood into different slices. - Sliced-peel:
In this style the wood is sliced from the end of the log. - Dry solid-sawn:
The wood is boiled and then kept to dry slowly so that the moisture is remained in the inner cells of the wood.
